Khakdan went to the school of Fine Arts in Tehran between 1967-1970 and followed by studying at the Faculty of Decorative Arts. He got his BA in Interior Design. His extreme passion about exploring different painting styles has started with abstract paintings and eventually transitioned into surreal. During the seventies he started exploring painting realistic pictures, which apparently became his best-known working period. Khakdan held his first Exhibition in 1973 at Seyhoun Art Gallery–Tehran and till 1979 he ran 2 more exhibitions in Tehran and at the same time he held an exhibition at Art Basel in Switzerland.
Wahed Khakdan is a postwar and contemporary painter, illustrator, stage and costume designer. He was born in 1950, in Tehran, Iran. He graduated from the academy of fine arts in Tehran. He has worked and lived in Germany since 1984.
